Hong Fook Physical Activity Programs

Hong Fook has had physical activity programs in the past, but recently we made it one of our priorities in our organization to improve the physical activity level of our consumers and to implement more regular formal physical activity programs.

We currently have physical activity programs near both of our offices. At our uptown location (Scarborough), we have a physical activity program on Tuesdays (12:30-2:30 pm) at a gym nearby. At our downtown location (Dundas and Spadina),  we have physical activity programs on Mondays (1-4 pm) and Wednesdays (1-3 pm). Within our programs, we offer a variety of activities including basketball, ping-pong, badminton, line dancing, tai chi, yoga, and aerobics.

We evaluate by completing pre/post surveys, using a logic model approach to come up with outcome indicators, and gathering input from consumers and staff.

Some clients have stated they feel they have more energy since starting the program. Many are starting to come on a regular basis because they enjoy the program and realize the benefits of regular physical activity. We see more clients socializing and getting to know each other as the program continues.
