Hutton House supports and promotes the inclusion of adults and youth with disabilities in community life.
Participants can join the Hutton House fitness facility and have a program developed for them based on their fitness and wellness goals. Our community based programs consist of belly dancing, yoga, pilates, YMCA memberships, Aikido and Jazzercise.
As a part of our health promotion activities, we have a Life Coach here that works with females one-on-one. We also host clubs that focus on issues of nutrition to addictions. We teach a Yoga and Pilates class for chronic conditions.
Our partnerships are listed in a recreation directory we have created. Examples include YMCA, Fanshawe College, Jazzercise, the Yoga Shack, Karma Personal Training, the Aikido Network, Elite Personal Training, New Wave Body Technologies, Adrenaline Training Centre.
We have outside volunteer instructors (college or university students) to teach some classes. We are going to be launching a certification training program.
We have received funding from the Trillium Foundation for the program. Our program has been so successful that Sept/09 Hutton House developed a fitness facility within our main building. We are still working on building a more solid nutrition program and we are constantly networking to develop more partnerships.
